Redefining What's Possible
In the next issue
Climate Action
2021 must be the year when talk turns to action in addressing environmental, social and economic impacts of climate change on communities around the world.
With the COVID-19 pandemic acting as a catalyst for change, governments, organizations and companies are lowering their carbon emissions in an effort to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. And we’re anticipating further action as world leaders convene in November for the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) — the most significant climate event since the Paris Agreement.
In our next issue, find out how we’re partnering with clients to initiate adaptation and mitigation measures, accelerate the global energy transition, develop sustainable infrastructure and assets and provide responsible stewardship of the planet’s natural resources — while also advancing social equality and justice.
And we’ll share our experience developing a Climate Action Plan, which commits to 100% renewable energy for our operations and net zero carbon for our operations and business travel in 2020 (achieved) and being carbon negative for our operations and business travel by 2030.
"Reaching our goal to become carbon neutral is a major step in improving the way we run our operations at Jacobs. Yet our biggest opportunity to affect climate change is through the work performed for our clients – helping them to achieve change and create a better tomorrow for all. Together, we are pushing the limits of what is possible and staying ahead to create the new standards of our future."
– Steve Demetriou, Jacobs Chair & CEO
